Welding Demo
November 10th 2001
Bob Sanders graciously opened up his boys shop ( Tool Craft) to allow us to do a demonstration with a Plasma cutter and a wire feed welder. Bob also was able to get his TIG welder operating and had a professional welder friend come in and show us how its suppose to be done.
Jim Riser brought his Plasma cutter up from Tucson. If you want clean cuts and a easy to operate machine this one sure beats using the old torch. One relay nice thing about this type of setup is once you get the cut moving you are not looking at the arc or flame. Its all hidden under the tip of the cutter.
Marty also brought his Millermatic wire feed and gave a demonstration on using it. Very nice machine for welding clean tight welds. It takes some practice but once you get the hang of it they are nice! The flux core wire is great for welding outdoors in the wind. The regular wire with gas, will give almost splatter free welds.

Jim Riser explaining the basics of how to use a plasma cutter. Its very different then the old torch! Plasma leaves clean accurate cuts. |
A couple of the guys got to test the plasma cutter out. It takes a knack to get used to but really is a nice machine. |
